Do military members have to pay any fee for leave or fiancee forms?
NOOOOOOO. You are talking to a military romance scammer. I received an email from the US Army that directly answers your question that is pasted below please keep reading.I believe you are the victim of a military Romance Scam whereas the person you are talking to is a foreign national posing as an American Soldier claiming to be stationed overseas on a peacekeeping mission. That's the key to the scam they always claim to be on a peacekeeping mission.Part of their scam is saying that they have no access to their money that their mission is highly dangerous. If your boyfriend girlfriend/future husband/wife is asking you to do the following or has exhibited this behavior, it is a most likely a scam:Moves to private messaging site immediately after meeting you on Facebook or SnapChat or Instagram or some dating or social media site. Often times they delete the site you met them on right after they asked you to move to a more private messaging siteProfesses love to you very quickly & seems to quote poems and song lyrics along with using their own sort of broken language, as they profess their love and devotion quickly. They also showed concern for your health and love for your family.Promises marriage as soon as he/she gets to state for leave that they asked you to pay for. They Requests money (wire transfers) and Amazon, iTune ,Verizon, etc gift cards, for medicine, religious practices, and leaves to come home, internet access, complete job assignments, help sick friend, get him out of trouble, or anything that sounds fishy. The military does prall the soldier needs including food medical Care and transportation for leave. Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. I am just trying to show you examples that you are most likely being connned.Below is an email response I received after I sent an inquiry to the US government when I discovered I was scammed. I received this wonderful response back with lots of useful links on how to find and report your scammer. And how to learn more about Romance Scams.Right now you can also copy the picture he gave you and do a google image search and you will hopefully see the pictures of the real person he is impersonating. this doesn't always work and take some digging. if you find the real person you can direct message them and alert them that their image is being used for scamming.Good Luck to you and I'm sorry this may be happening to you. please continue reading the government response I received below it's very informative.   You have contacted an email that is monitored by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Unfortunately, this is a common concern. We assure you there is never any reason to send money to anyone claiming to be a Soldier online. If I fill out a money order wrong and don't have the receipt, can I take it back to the post office and get it changed?
Question: If I fill out a money order wrong and don't have the receipt, can I take it back to the post office and get it changed?Probably not. However, you can simply cross out the incorrect information in front of the party to whom you are giving it for payment and that should be sufficient for them to cash it. Or you can do so for someone who has a bank account, have them deposit the money order and then give you the cash to purchase a new one, if necessary. Or the payee can cross your incorrect information, send you a copy of the edits that they made and then deposit it in their account.Everything depends on how “wrong” you filled it out. If you simply put the incorrect payee, then that’s easily fixed. If you put the wrong payee, wrong address and a host of other unnecessary things on the money order, you might have a problem or two. It all depends upon how careless you were (Sorry…but asking before you fill out the money order really is standard operating procedure, just like with checks) when you filled it out.You can try to take it back to the post office. however, if you give them a detailed explanation with too many moving parts, they may simply tell you that there is nothing that they can do. That’s because it’s easier to say “No” than it is to say “Yes.”
Would America be better off without food stamps?
My father took a low level apprentice job, took the subway to night school to learn a trade. Electricians were paid well in New York back then, in the 60s. He got his certificate, got a good job and provided well for his family. My mother didn't work and was a stay at home mom.His parents who were immigrants from Sweden, got here before the great depression in the 30s and learned about saving money. He was their only child so they gave him a nice nest egg and gave each of us 3 kids savings accounts for our college. Than they retired and moved to beautiful Florida. My older brothers were devastated. They missed their grandparents and so did my mom and dad so we moved here in 1971. I was 3. My dad worked hard but there weren't any unions here and the pay grade was much less than NY. He took all the savings and invested in several tenant properties. He quit his job after a coworker was electrocuted in front of him. He got depressed. It was a dark time. We relied solely on the tenants rent. A neighbor came onto our property and our dog bit her. We got sued and lost everything. He tried for a long time but things dominoed and just got worse. We were starving. They started fighting, a lot. My mom begging to get a job him insisting “no wife of mine will ever work”. She got on a city bus while we were at school and went and got food stamps. We had been eating rice and macaroni and cheese for months. To have meatloaf….even her not so good meatloaf, was like heaven. But they fought really bad after that. She did go and get a job and that was the beginning to the end of their relationship. I blamed it on the food stamps. That's what started it.Flash forward some 30 years where much to my dismay, I sat at the library computer filling out the online application for assistance. I was rejected. I go into my car and cried. The job I'd worked at for 22 years laid me off, my dad died and I was lost. Unemployment barely paid my car payment. I lost my house and was living with a friend. Any food I could buy was for my dogs. I was responsible for them. I sold all my jewelry for gas money to go to jobs that I was overqualified for or not experienced in the field (healthcare). It was a desperate and sad time. I was fortunate that there was a small inheritance. Paid off the car, moved back to the city and found a shitty low paying temp job. Met a man who is now my husband. He lost his job. Still desperate and prioritizing which bill to pay, which coupon to clip. I took out the ebt card I got in the mail and it had $600 on it! They back paid me for 3 months! I can't tell you how invigorating it was to not have to worry about food for awhile! I ended up getting 2 jobs and he got a decent temp job that he got hired at and is still there 6 years later. But we struggled for a long time. We still struggle. But that day in the store seeing a balance on the receipt I squealed. It wasn't about the food as much as the hope that things were about to change for us. And it did. Luckily it changed for the better and I realized that I'm not the only one who went through a difficult time, a time of desperation and fear. I didn't reapply for food stamps and hope I never ever have to again. It's degrading because others make you feel that way.So no, we should not do away with the food stamp program and no, we wouldn't be better off without it. I didn't mention that my now husband brought with him a tiny 2 year old girl who repeatedly wanted snacks. Snacks that I didn't have for her. It broke my heart to say I had not one thing for her. What a joy it was to be able to hand her a fruit snack. A bowl of oatmeal when she woke up. A special grilled cheese sandwich just for her.I pray that no one ever has to go through such a dark time but I did get something for it. A great appreciation for where my taxes go (a very small portion of them) and I also got a very deep understanding of what it's like to have to swallow your pride and dignity when applying for them as well as the humiliation of using them in a line at the store where some look at you like you're a loser for being in need.
